The 64 bit version of Firefox has never supported NPAPI, and Firefox version 52ESR is the last release to support the technology. It made more sense to encourage people to switch to the same version (52 to 52 ESR). The Java Plugin for web browsers relies on the cross-platform plugin architecture NPAPI, which had been supported by all major web browsers for over a decade. If they had done that, users who needed plugins would have had to downgrade to Firefox 52 ESR and that could cause incompatibilities with profiles. All other plugins, Silverlight, Java, and all the others, wont be supported anymore in the Firefox version. The only exception to the rule is that Firefox 52 will support Adobe Flash.
Some folks may ask why both Mozilla didn’t wait until Firefox 53 to deprecate plugins so that both versions of Firefox 52 would have the same capabilities. Firefox 52 will be the first release version of the Mozilla Firefox web browser that will ship without support for NPAPI plugins. Plugin support will continue in the 52 ESR line only, meaning Firefox 59 will not have plugin support. It is important that you make this change as close as possible to the release of Firefox 52 ESR (March 7, 2017), otherwise security updates to Firefox 51 will not be applied. This is bad for users as it makes it too easy to install the wrong version, and makes it too hard to update it. As an example, it is quiet possible that on using HTML5 apps or plugins on. The latest version of TiddlyFox is currently available only from the GitHub repo, with only a much older version at (AMO). If you are running an older version of Firefox and haven’t updated Firefox to it’s latest version (Firefox 3.5), chances are that you won’t be able to use HTML5 apps in Firefox.
That means that if your users are currently on Firefox 51 and you need plugin support, you need to switch Firefox so that it gets updates from the ESR channel. Does Firefox Support HTML 5 Web apps, Videos or Games The answer is yes as well as no. Firefox 52 WILL NOT have plugin support (except for Flash). Starting with Firefox 52, the only version of Firefox that will support plugins is the ESR. In short, Firefox 51 (which was released last week) is the last release of mainline Firefox that will support NPAPI plugins (except for Flash). In the recently released Mozilla Firefox 52 version, Mozilla has disabled support for NPAPI (Netscape Plugin Application Programming Interface) plugins such as Microsoft Silverlight, Java, Unity, Acrobat, Shockwave, DivX, etc.Only support for Adobe Flash Player plugin is enabled as its still widely used by websites. That date is approaching fast, so I wanted to give folks more information about what’s happening. Last year, Mozilla announced that support for NPAPI plugins (except for Flash) would be ending in March 2017.
